History of the Cowboy Up for a Cure Rodeo
The inaugural Cowboy Up for a Cure Rodeo began in the spring of 2014, when members of FarmHouse Fraternity, Alpha Gamma Delta and the UK Rodeo Team approached Cowboy Up founder, Rebecca Shryock, about hosting a professional rodeo to raise money for the organization.
For the last 3 years, these groups have worked along with the Cowboy Up for a Cure Board to raise funds to host an annual Rodeo and preliminary events on the campus of the University of Kentucky that bring campus and community together in the fight against pediatric cancer.
The 2016 Cowboy Up for a Cure Rodeo raised over $67,000 benefiting Central Kentucky pediatric patients seeking treatment at the UK Children's Hospital's DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic. The 2017 Rodeo will be again be held at the Kentucky Horse Park's Alltech Arena, Saturday, April 8, 2017 .
